India at Cannes Film Festival 2022

 

 

The ‘Red Carpet Event’ will be a treat for the Indian audience at the 75th Cannes Festival. At the inaugural Cannes Film Festival 2022 on May 17, 2022, dignitaries from across the Indian film industry will follow in the footsteps of ‘Manacha Lal Rujayam’. All these distinguished artists will be present there as members of the Indian delegation.

The delegation, led by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, will travel from India to Cannes. The list of these eminent personalities includes some of the most important artists in the field of Indian music. The delegation will consist of the following famous artists-

  1. Akshay Kumar (Actor and Producer, Bollywood)
  2. AR Rahman (composer of international renown)
  3. Mame Khan (folk music composer, singer)
  4. Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Actor, Bollywood)
  5. Nayantara (Actress, Malayalam, Tamil)
  6. Pooja Hegde (Actress, Hindi, Telugu)
  7. Prasoon Joshi (Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification)
  8. R. Madhavan (Actor and Producer) – World premiere of ‘Rocketry’ at Cannes.
  9. Ricky Cage (musician)
  10. Shekhar Kapoor (filmmaker / director)
  11. Tamanna Bhatia (Actress, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil film)
  12. Vani Tripathi (actress)

This year, the aim is to bring the scent of rich Indianness to the world by presenting the diverse Indian folklore, culture, heritage and many other developments through Indian films. The delegation includes selected artists from all corners of the country to represent the various strengths of the country and the various dimensions of Indianness.

A number of new initiatives were undertaken at the recently concluded 52nd Iffi-Indian International Film Festival. Collaborate with OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, see their 75 potential talents, launch their ’75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow ‘initiative and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Film Festival. In the same way, new and exciting activities have been decided for this year’s Cannes Festival.

It is noteworthy that in this year’s festival, India has been honored as the official honorary country in the ‘Cannes Film Market / Cannes Film Theater’. This is the first time that this honor has been conferred on a country and it is being accorded to India while celebrating the nectar of Indian independence. It is also the honeymoon year of diplomatic relations between India and France.

Earlier, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had said that India had the honor of being an honorable country in Cannes Next. Under this, 5 new startup industries will be given the opportunity to work in the audio-visual industry..
