At the launch of his memoir book, The Second Orbit: Belief of a Man… Dreams of 1.4 Billion Hearts here, Shukla, recalled as anecdote in lighter mode but it was true that he went to asleep in the spacesuits and full went inside the bag during fast asleep due to no gravity, when his other 3 fellow mates wake up they could not find me and they thought how a person can get lost in the space.
Shukla who was part of a four-member crew that spent 18 days aboard the ISS as part of NASA’s Axiom-4 mission last year around same time thought since he cant reach every one in the Nation & The World to share his experiences came out with the book publised by Penguin India. Shukla mentioned he named “The Second Orbit” since earlier Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma was the first to do so in 1984 with Soviet Union [ Former USSR ].
Shukla also told that though he alone travelled to space but there are thousands of team effort in behind also he represented 1.4 billions population of the India as their dream.
He also told students gathered at the event that all dreams starts from the classroom with the doubt to discipline to destiny.
Former ISRO Chairman S.Somanath who spoke said he was proud that he was instrumental in selection of Shubhanshu for the ganganyan mission and mentioned that as of now path to go space is via Air Force or Scientist but everyone should dream the day will come where it opens opportunities for all including artistes.
Former ISRO Chairman Kiran kumar , Former principal scientific advisor to Govt of India K. Vijayraghavan , Air Marshal S Shrinivas ,Air Commodore Ravish Malhotra (Retd) , Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair KC Air commodore and flight instructor with the Indian Air Force and Gaganyatri (astronaut) with the (ISRO) & JNP Director Guruprasad was other dignitaries present for the event.
The event was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru.
