Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Inaugurates Four Redeveloped Amrit Stations in Karnataka


Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurates 75 redeveloped Amrit Stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) with a total investment of Rs. 1570 crores, including Alnavar, Badami, Bantawal and Koppal in Karnataka.

The inauguration programme at Alnavar was held in the august presence of Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Basavaraj S. Horatti, Chairman, Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri Pradeep Shettar, Hon’ble MLC, General Manager, South Western Railway, Shri P. Ananth and Smt. Snehal R., Deputy Commissioner, Dharwad, and other senior officers from SWR were also present.

Addressing the gathering at Alnavar, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor, Karnataka said that the inauguration of the redeveloped stations marks another milestone in the transformation of Indian Railways. He noted that the Hon’ble Prime Minister also flagged off a hydrogen-powered train earlier in the day, underscoring India’s commitment to green and sustainable transport. He highlighted that railway stations across the country have been redeveloped at an investment of about ₹1,570 crore under the current phase of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He also recalled that the Hon’ble Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 1,062 railway stations across India and stated that ₹7,748 crore has been allocated to Karnataka in the Union Budget 2026–27 for railway development, while the overall allocation for Indian Railways stands at ₹2.78 lakh crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pralhad Joshi highlighted the redevelopment of Alnavar Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and emphasized Indian Railways’ growing focus on renewable energy and sustainability. He noted that Railways is increasingly harnessing solar power, with power from a solar plant at Madhya Pradesh is being supplied to Railways at a tariff of ₹2.70 per unit. He further stated that India is emerging as a global leader in green hydrogen initiatives and highlighted the rapid expansion of the Vande Bharat network, which now covers nearly 40,000 km across the country. Crediting the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he referred to the landmark rail connectivity established between Jammu and Srinagar. He also informed that 19 railway stations in Hubballi Division are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for transforming railway infrastructure across the country.

The Alnavar railway station have been redeveloped with modern passenger amenities, improved accessibility, upgraded station buildings, enhanced circulating areas, lifts, Foot Over Bridges, digital passenger information systems, CCTV surveillance, free Wi-Fi and other facilities, providing passengers with a safe, comfortable and world-class travel experience.
