Official Inauguration of the Australian Consulate-General in Bengaluru

M B Patil Minister for Commerce & Industries, Infrastructure GoK inaugurated the Australian Consulate-General’s office in Bengaluru alongside Hon’ble Julian Hill – MP, Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs, and International Education, Government of Australia.

The Australian Consulate-General has been serving in Bengaluru since July 2023, and its official inauguration marks an important milestone in further strengthening Karnataka-Australia ties and creating new opportunities for collaboration across trade, education, research, innovation and technology.

Karnataka is already home to more than 40 Australian companies, along with active trade offices representing Queensland and Victoria. Adding to this momentum, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) is set to establish its Bengaluru campus – the first foreign university campus in India – further reinforcing Karnataka’s position as a global hub for technology, innovation and higher education.

The India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership reflects Australia’s strong confidence in Karnataka in the areas of trade, education, research, innovation, and technology. With an investment-friendly ecosystem, transparent governance, and pro-industry policies, the Government of Karnataka is committed to accelerating shared growth and deepening partnerships with Australian businesses, educational institutions, and investors.

MB Patil joined by H.E. Mr. Philip Green, Australian High Commissioner to India, and Ms. Hilary McGeachy, Australian Consul General in Bengaluru, on this landmark occasion.
