India first time hosted Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals [COP 13 ] also known as Bonn Convention last month in Gandhinagar [ Gujurat] from February 15th to 22nd Febuary 2020.
The Official opening ceremony was done with the presence of
Hon Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi [ thru Video conferencing from New Delhi]
Chief Minister of Gujurat Sri Vijay Rupani ,
Union Minister for Environment , Forests , Climate Change & I & B Prakash Javedkar
Babu Supriyo MoS for Climate Change ,
Amy Fraenkel, Executive Secretary of CMS, & other dignitaries represented from 130 countries.
Special Issue of UN Stamps Featuring Migratory Species Launched at CMS COP13 was also done on this occasion.
Many Documentaries & Short films to bring awareness & propaganda on the subject was screened for the delegates and participants followed by interactions & discussions.
Karnataka Forest Department also set up a pavilion and shared knowledge to the visiting participants and attendees on initiatives and programs undertaken in the Karnataka on the subjects
