Bengaluru International Film Festival [ BIFFES ] 2022 had opening ceremony on March 03 2022 at GKVK Campus Auditorium.
Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri Basavaraj Bommai kick started the opening event by lighting the lamp & releasing the Festival Catalogue Book & was accompanied by Minister Muniratna , Padmasri Smt Bharathi Vishnuvardhan ,Challenging Star Darshan, Smt Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, Film Maker Priyadarshan ,Producer & Artist Rockline Venkatesh, KCA Chairman Suneel Puranik , Information & Public Relations Officials Manjunath Prasad , PS Harsha , KFCC President D R Jairaj & BIFFES Artistic Director HN Narahari Rao on the Dias.
Before the event started Late Actor Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar was remembered & Festival was dedicated to him.
The festival happened after 2 years due to covid19 and this year BIFFES was special due it got recognition & accreditation from FIAPF was conducted in Hybrid mode.
CM of Karnataka assured financial assistance to proposals made by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy & Kannada Film Fraternity & expected Good Quality & Meaningful films in return in his speech.
He also expressed he still likes films from Black & white era & announced to celebrate March 03 as Kannada Chalanachitra Day going forward.
Challenging star Darshan presence added mass appeal to the event.
over 200 plus films across the world was screened at BIFFES 2022.
