After 2 years the 13th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival [ BIFFES ] is happening from March 02 to 10 2022.
Organized by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy , Government of Karnataka under its Chiairman Sri Suneel Puranik .
COVID-19 Pandemic has necessitated postponement of most of the film festivals across the globe, likewise 13th BIFFes is also postponed by an year compared to its previous editions. Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka State in India, is an important centre of International film culture in keeping with Karnataka’s glorious heritage and the State’s achievements in the fields of literature, fine arts, and cinema.
What excited this year after many years finally BIFFES able to get accreditation from The FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films / English International Federation of Film Producers Associations)

The festival inauguration will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 evening at the GKVK auditorium and will be graced by delegates, eminent filmmakers, celebrities and other dignitaries. The festival will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri Basavaraj Bommai and the closing ceremony will be held on the evening of Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Regular screenings for the delegates will commence from Friday March 4th, 2022. The screenings will be held at

- Dr Raj Bhavana (Kalavidara Sangha), Chamarajpet
- Suchitra Cine Academy (Purvankara auditorium), Banashankari II

Special Screenings
- National Film Archive is providing us the digitized copy of VASANTHA SENA (1941) the oldest Kannada movie available as on today. We are happy to screen the movie in BIFFes
Total films in the festival: 200 films from around 55 countries under various categories.
Filmmakers of competition sections of Indian and Kannada films, film festival organizers, programmers, film critics, foreign consulate officials and representatives of the cultural centers and academicians will be invited to participate as delegates and guests.
Other events associated with the festival will be Workshops, Seminars and Master classes on different aspects of cinema. Topics like advanced technology in filmmaking, OTT platform, Non- Fungible Tokens (NFT) and other subjects are being planned. Details will be available on the official website.
