Government of Karnataka Unveils Clean Mobility Policy 2025-2030 at Invest Karnataka 2025: Leading India’s Green Transportation Revolution

 

Karnataka, the first Indian state to introduce a dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) policy in 2017, is now taking a significant leap forward with the launch of its Clean Mobility Policy 2025-2030. This landmark initiative was officially unveiled at the Invest Karnataka 2025 – Global Investors Meet by Shri K J George, Hon’ble Energy Minister, in the presence of Shri D K Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister; Shri M B Patil, Hon’ble Large & Medium Industries Minister; Shri Shashi Tharoor, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, along with several distinguished dignitaries.

The policy aims to position Karnataka as Asia’s top clean mobility hub while accelerating the state’s transition to a sustainable, future-ready transportation ecosystem.

Key Highlights of the Karnataka Clean Mobility Policy 2025-2030:

Massive Investment & Job Creation- Targeting investments of ₹50,000 crore across the clean mobility value chain, with a vision to generate 1 lakh new jobs in the sector.
Attractive Incentive Package- Offering subsidies of up to 25% on total invested capex across Karnataka, including Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural regions, which are eligible for a 20% capex subsidy.
Strengthening Karnataka’s EV Leadership- Karnataka already boasts 2.5 lakh registered EVs and 5,403 EV charging stations, ranking third in India for EV adoption. The policy targets the installation of an additional 2,600 charging stations through public-private partnerships.
Development of Clean Mobility Clusters- Establishing three world-class mobility clusters in Gauribidanur, Dharwad, and Harohalli, bringing together OEMs, suppliers, R&D centers, and testing facilities to drive innovation and manufacturing.
Charging & Hydrogen Infrastructure- Introducing capital subsidies for the development of fast-charging stations, battery-swapping networks, and hydrogen fueling stations to ensure a reliable clean energy network statewide.
Boosting Innovation & Skill Development- Collaborating with global institutions and expanding EV-focused training programs in ITIs, polytechnics, and universities to build a specialized workforce for the clean mobility industry.
With the Clean Mobility Policy 2025-2030, Karnataka is not just reinforcing its leadership in India’s EV sector but also pioneering the future of green transportation across Asia. By integrating advanced technology, fostering strategic investments, and implementing a comprehensive policy framework, the state aspires to become a global hub for clean mobility innovation and manufacturing.

The Clean Mobility Policy aligns with Karnataka’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions, enhancing air quality, and positioning the state as a leader in the global shift towards sustainable mobility.
