Indian Panorama Jury members headed by Noted Kannada Film Maker SV Rajendra Singh Babu for feature films category and eminent documentary film maker Arvind sinha for Non feature film category for 47th International Film festival of India 2016 meet the press immediately after the inaugural function on Nov 21 2016 to brief about selection process of the same.
SV Rajendra singh babu addressed the press and informed that selection of films were based mainly on how aesthetics of films were used by the film maker and due to now film gone digital there were almost 230 + entries received all over the country out of which jury was on herculean task to select films to 22. And he said all films selection was done on democratic way and in some cases where consensus couldn’t arrive voting methods were used.
He mentioned Kannada film like “Thithi” was rejected due to wrong date in application filling up process which film makers should be more cautious.
Arvind sinha also brief the same about non feature categories.
And Block busters like Sultan, Bajirao Mastani, Bahubaali and Airlift were recommended directly by Film Federation of India as Mainstreams.
Main focus was given to showcase North East Indian films also Mr Babu said he has suggested Directorate of Film festival India to categories films as North, South and North east during selection process but having Jury chairperson to have control & access all over in going forward years since number of entries are expected to go very high.
Sanskrit film “Ishti” and manipuri film “Ima sabitri” were selected as opening films under feature and non feature films category.
