Karnataka Udyog Mitra and Daiki Axis Host Workshop on Decentralised Wastewater Management to Drive Sustainability and Water Circularity

In an effort to advance decentralised wastewater treatment and water sustainability in Karnataka, Karnataka Udyog Mitra, under the guidance of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with Daiki Axis India, organised a dedicated workshop to promote awareness and action around decentralised wastewater management solutions.

This workshop brought together key government departments, sustainability leaders, and water infrastructure experts to explore how decentralised systems—like Daiki Axis’s Johkasou technology—can enable Karnataka to lead in ESG, Net Zero, and sustainable development.

Delivering the keynote, Mr. Rio Waza, Director at Daiki Axis Japan, shared Japan’s transformation journey from the environmental degradation of the 1960s to becoming a global exemplar of sustainable water infrastructure. He highlighted Johkasou’s potential to deliver localised, circular water management and spoke about Daiki’s commitment to localisation, community engagement, and skill development in India.

Mr. Kamal Tiwari, CEO, Daiki Axis India, mentioned about the company’s is setting up their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tumkur, which will streamline deployment and lower costs across southern India.

Mr. Krishna Prasad, Managing Partner, Sukruta, outlined the success of implementing over 130 Johkasou units across Karnataka.

Participants included officials from the Karnataka Housing Board, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, KIADB, Karnataka Police Housing Corporation, PWD, KSPCB, Department of Medical Education, Urban and Rural Water Supply departments, and the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

The interactive session featured insightful queries and suggestions from the departments. Women officials from the Police Housing Corporation showed interest in adopting the technology for upcoming housing projects.The modular and scalable nature of Johkasou received strong endorsement for its practicality, efficiency, and alignment with CPCB, NGT, and KSPCB norms.

Dr. S. Selvakumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries; Smt. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Industries and Commerce, Shri. Dodda Basavaraju, Managing Director of Karnataka Udyog Mitra; Sri.Veerabhadraiah B.R, KIADB, Chief Engineer, were present during the meeting.
