As part of Karnataka’s efforts to attract global investment and reinforce its position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation, and research, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Shri M.B. Patil, held key meeting withtop leadership of Epiroc,Mash Makes and WS Audiology, to explore collaboration opportunities and strengthen Karnataka’s role as one of the leader inhub for green energy,innovation,research andadvanced manufacturing.
Shri M.B. Patil met with Mr. Arun Kumar, head of Epiroc’s India operations, who shared the company’s long-term vision and outlined investment plans, including INR 500 crore capital investment this year and an additional INR 1,000 croreby 2030in India.
Shri M.B. Patil presented Karnataka’s industrial strengths, skilled talent pool, and enabling ecosystem, positioning the state as an ideal destination for Epiroc’s future manufacturing expansion in addition to its existing R&D operations. Epiroc’s R&D facility in Bangalore has over 500 employees contributing to 25% of Epiroc’s global R&D output.
Shri MB Patil held detailed discussions with Mash Makes, a company pioneering sustainable energy solutions. The company is setting up India’s first high-tech biochar manufacturing plant using cashew processing residues in Udupi, Karnataka, with an investment of around INR 100 crore. ShriM.B. Patil welcomed this green initiative and assured the Government’s full support in facilitating the project.
The company expressed satisfaction with the business ecosystem in Karnataka and indicated their intention to further expand their operations within the state. The Minister lauded their efforts in creating clean energy solutions and emphasized Karnataka’s commitment to becoming a leading destination for climate-resilient and sustainable industries.
Shri M.B. Patil also met with senior leaders at WS Audiology, the first company to establish a hearing aid manufacturing facility in India, located in Bengaluru. The Karnataka Government has extended its support by offering tailored incentives to aid the company’s current operations and future expansion plans.
During the interaction, Shri MB Patil encouraged WS Audiology to focus on developing affordable, low-cost hearing aids to increase accessibility for economically weaker sections. He also highlighted the need for national and state-level initiatives to improve access to hearing health solutions through public schemes, pledging to advocate for such programs at the government level.
The official delegation included Dr. Selvakumar S, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, and Smt. Gunjan Krishna, IAS, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Department of Commerce and Industries were part of the meeting.
