Shri M.B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, met the German Delegation led by Ms. Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy, and Public Enterprises from the State of Berlin to strengthen the ties between Karnataka and Germany and position Karnataka as one of the leaders in Renewable Energy Sector.
The German Delegation also included Mr. Matthias Kuder, Press Spokesperson, Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises; Ms. Ellen Wolk, Personal Advisor to the Senator, Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises; Dr. Anna Hochreuter, Head of Department for Economic Policy and Economic Order, Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises; Ms. Eda Ozbay, Group Lead, Foreign Trade Working Group, Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises; Dr. Stephan Franzke, CEO, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology GmbH; Mr. Birol Becer, Board Member, IHK Berlin; Ms. Annet Babler, Deputy Consul General, German Consulate Bangalore; Ms Kanchi Arora, Economic and Press Advisor, German Consulate Bangalore; Mr. Joachim Fahrun, Chief Political Reporter for State Politics, Funke Media Berlin GmbH/Berliner Morgenpost.
Germany is the 9th-largest investor in India as of 2023, with FDI amounting to $547 million. Electrical products, automobiles and auto components, textiles and garments, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals are some of the key products exported to Germany from India. Top German companies like Mercedes-Benz, Robert Bosch, Continental AG, BASF, and Siemens have strong business operations in Karnataka.
Earlier, Minister Patil-led delegation had visited Germany in December 2024 as a part of the broader Europe and UK roadshow, representing the Government of Karnataka, where strategic meetings with key companies like GEA, Krones, Bosch, INDEX-Werke, Hensoldt, Alanod, and MHP (Porsche) were held with Krones signing an MoU of INR 315 crore to establish a facility for manufacturing machinery for bottling in Karnataka.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Selvakumar S, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, and Smt. Gunjan Krishna, IAS, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Department of Commerce and Industries.
