There are Greater Challenges in the Business Segment than in Storytelling: Aditi Anand

‘This is the right time to brand yourself. You must create your own platform. You need to become a brand yourselves’ said Aditi Anand, the producer known for films like Bison and No One Killed Jessica.

Addressing young film enthusiasts in a session titled ‘Stories That Matter,’ she said, ‘Young filmmakers should not worry too much about the medium right now. They should focus on creating content for all platforms. Your content can reach a producer in any form.’

‘Currently, there aren’t many challenges regarding stories or content. However, there are very big challenges from a business perspective. Earlier, there were six or seven distributors in the North; now, there are only three or four. Looking at it from a business background, there are many obstacles,’ she added.

Encouraging the young audience, she said, ‘If you have an interest in working with someone, you must find a way to reach them. You must put in persistent effort.’

Speaking about producing a film in Kannada, she mentioned, ‘my partner is from Mangaluru. His mother has been asking me to produce a film in Kannada. Therefore, there is a possibility of making a movie in Kannada as well.’

Giving advice to women producers, she said, ‘move forward with ambition. Do not let go of any opportunity due to hesitation. Do not put yourself in a position of guilt for a mistake made by your male partner.’

‘Nowadays, producing films through co-production is a very good approach. One should focus on forming a team and growing together,’ she noted.
