This is not of MR Radha or Upendra from their respective landmark roles of as Leprosy patients from their film “Rakta kaneer in Tamil or Raktha Kaneeru in Kannada.
But it is versatile Late Actor TN Balakrishna [ Balana ] as Kowshika also portrayed as Leprosy Patient & performed excellently from the Kannada film “ Mahasathi Anasuya “ released in the year 1965 which was produced & Directed by BS Ranga.
First cheers and applause for the late versatile Actor Balana also playing that Challenging Role.
In the Kannada film “ Mahasathi Anasuya “ which mythological story all aware talks about chastity of Sage wife Anasuya which empower her to make Trimurthy God “Brahma Vishnu Maheshwara” as to becomes babies & later birth / Avatara of “Dattathreya Swami / Guru.
But above TN Balakrishna & Leelavathi as his wife story goes as sub plot in the film which is nothing but same “Raktha Kaneeru” story except in the final as mythological story Balakrishna character leprosy gets cured due to chastity of “Anasuya”..
Just further analysing is this story [ Rakta Kaneeru kind plot / character ] really exists in our Mythological stories which inspired for its original Tamil Dravidian movement writer Tiruvarur K. Thangaraj to adapt or in the Kannada film “ Mahasathi Anasuya “ just taken this theme from Tamil film “Raktha Kaneeru” as sub plot in terms of cinematic / fiction liberty to add melodrama.
One more interesting & highlight of ““ Mahasathi Anasuya “ is in the film Dr Rajkumar plays as Deva Rishi [ God Sage ]“Narada” Mahamuni and one of the scene his conversations with Trimurthy goddess [ Saraswathi , Lakshmi & Parvathi ] talks about Women freedom & empowerment movement is happening in Bhooloka [ Earth] and incidentally may to reach this message to the public / audience film title card credits first appears of all leading female artistes followed by Male Artistes including Dr Rajkumar.
Why this highlight is after recent “ Me too” movement in the Entertainment Industry many Big Male Stars in the Hindi Film Industry took this stand / decision to credit Women protagonists title credits in the first or equal but way back in the mid 1960 can see this.
Late Versatile Actress “Pandiri Bai “ who is permanent on & off-screen mother in the film Industry circle played the title role & surprisingly Chi Udayshakar was not only the writer but also associate director
