International Film Festival of India [ IFFI ] 51st Edition opening ceremony happened on January 16 2021 with the presence of Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Government of India Sri Prakash Javedkar , Chief Minister of Goa Sri Pramod Sawant , Chief Guest Kannada origin PAN India Multi Task Personality Kichaa Sudeep , Country Focus Bangladesh High Commissioner to India HE Muhammad Imran , Film Maker Priyadarshan & other dignitaries.
This year edition due to pandemic was done in Hybrid Manner of Both Physical & Virtual formats and all the necessary protocols & guidelines of covid19 issued by the Govt were strictly followed.
And for the first time Kannada Film Personality Kichaa Sudeep had the honor to grace as Chief Guest for the IFFI opening ceremony and it may be recalled earlier for the year 1992 when same was held in Bengaluru the Kannada Matinee Idol Dr Rajkumar was invited as chief guest for the opening ceremony but the actor did not attend the event due to on going cauvery river sharing with the Tamil Nadu dispute crisis that time.
