Bengaluru Blasters beat Shivamogga Yodhas by 16 runs for second straight win

Mysuru : Bengaluru Blasters made a powerful statement of intent beating Shivamogga Yodhas by 16 runs for back to back victories on the second day of the DACSS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament on Sunday at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground in Mysore.Chasing a stiff target of 125 in 10 overs, Yashovardhan Parantap kept the match alive for the Yodhas till the last ball with an incredible 16-ball 38 (1 four, 3 sixes). However, that proved too little, too late.

The fixture was reduced to 14 overs a side due to wet outfield conditions and further reduced to ten over, but it hardly mattered to the Blasters, as they had already moved into a commanding position before reaching a stiff 124 at the end of the 10th over. The early dismissal of Bhuvan Mohan Raju, for another aggressive knock (13-ball 23, 2 fours, 2 sixes), did not cause any early hiccups as the left-handed duo of Rohan Patil and Krishnan Shrijith continued the good pace with attractive and aggressive stroke plays.

Their 45-ball 97-run partnership for the second wicket proved decisive in the end. Rohan was more attacking and his unbeaten 23-ball 51 consisted of five sixes and a boundary while Shrijith remained unbeaten on a 25-ball 47 (4 fours, 2 sixes). In reply, the Yodhas could hardly launch a fitting reply. Losing early wickets they found themselves in trouble by the end of the fifth over, reduced to five for 54.Blasters’ captain Shubhang Hegde, the hero of their first victory on Saturday over Mysore Warriors, again had a hand in all the early wickets that fell. He broke the Yodhas batting line-up dismissing Aneesh KV (12) and Harshill Darmani (13) in quick succession.

Shreevatsa Acharya kept up the pressure at the other end dismissing Adarsh Prajwal (17) and Naveen MG (16), while Praveen Dubey also registered a two wicket haul.

The first match of the second day of the championship between Coastal Kings Mangaluru and Hubli Tigers was washed out without a ball being bowled.Brief scores:Bengaluru Blasters won by 16 runs (VJD method)Bengaluru Blasters 124-1 in 10 overs (Bhuvan Mohan Raju 23, Rohan Patil 51 not out, Krishnan Shrijith 47 not out; Shreesha Achar 1-15) bt Shivamogga Yodhas 119-7 (revised target of 136) (Aadarsh Prajwal 17, Naveen MG 16; Praveen Dubey 2-24, Shubhang Hegde 2-9, Shreevathsa Acharya 2-34)
