Har Ghar Tiranga’ Film Festival showcases diverse Journey of Cinema from Classics to Contemporary Films
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC), in association with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, inaugurated the three-day patriotic film festival ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ today at the NMIC Auditorium in Mumbai.
The festival was inaugurated by Cultural Affairs Minister of Maharashtra, Adv. Ashish Shelar, and acclaimed actor Sharad Kelkar, who marked the opening with a ceremonial clapboard. Addressing the gathering, they highlighted the important role of cinema in preserving the memories of India’s freedom struggle and inspiring future generations to remember the sacrifices made for the country’s independence.
NFDC MD Shri Prakash Magdum and MD, Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, Ms. Swati Mhase Patil emphasized the importance of such cultural platforms in celebrating India’s national pride and heritage.
The festival is being organised under the leadership of NFDC MD Shri Prakash Magdum, with the guidance and support of GM D. Ramakrishnan and the NMIC team.
The film selection and curation for the festival have been undertaken by NMIC DGM Shri Satyajit Mandle, who has curated a diverse line-up of films and documentaries from across different periods of Indian cinema. The selection includes documentaries produced by Films Division, alongside classics such as Kranti and Saat Hindustani, and contemporary films such as Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The festival aims to showcase films that reflect India’s freedom struggle, national pride and the spirit of patriotism, while using cinema as a medium to connect audiences, particularly younger generations, with the country’s history and heritage.
The three-day festival will continue until 16 August 2026 at the NMIC Auditorium. Entry to all screenings is free and open to the public.
