MUMBAI, INDIA — At the CII Big Picture Summit 2026 in Mumbai, Rohit Guptaa, Founder and CEO of vertical microdrama platform Reeloid Media, raised key questions regarding policy support for the emerging microdrama industry and the creator economy.
Speaking directly to Shri C. Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India, Guptaa highlighted the need for dedicated government guidelines and industry recognition for vertical short-form narrative content.

During the interactive session, Guptaa emphasized that as audience viewing habits evolve toward mobile-first storytelling, India has an opportunity to lead global digital entertainment.
He urged policymakers to establish structured frameworks that support independent creators, protect intellectual property, and enable sustainable monetization for digital-first production houses.

Formal Policy Recognition:
Establishing clear definitions and regulatory classifications for vertical microdramas within national media and OTT frameworks.
Support for the Creator Economy: Introducing incentives, production support, and funding pathways to empower domestic storytellers producing high-quality short-form fiction.
Monetization & Infrastructure:
Building standard practices to protect digital rights, simplify licensing, and support sustainable business models for independent creators and platforms.
Addressing the leadership at MIB, Guptaa noted:
“Microdramas are not just quick entertainment; they are a completely new narrative medium built around how modern audiences interact with screens. To help Indian creators and startups compete internationally, we need supportive policies that recognize vertical storytelling as an important part of our creative economy.”
