Minister Priyank Kharge Seeks Industry-Led Roadmap to Accelerate EV Ecosystem Roundtable explores industry-driven skilling, advanced testing facilities and strengthening Karnataka’s position as a hub for EV innovation and manufacturing
Bengaluru: Ahead of the upcoming Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, Shri Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Home, Electronics, Information Technology & Biotechnology, and E-Governance, Government of Karnataka, today held an interaction with leading players from Karnataka’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem to understand industry priorities, identify opportunities for collaboration and discuss measures to accelerate the growth of the sector in the state.
The roundtable brought together representatives from EV manufacturers, technology companies, battery and energy solutions providers, startups and industry stakeholders, including Exponent Energy, Ultraviolette, Simple Energy, Sun Mobility, Moonrider, Multiplex EV and other emerging players.
The discussions focused on strengthening Karnataka’s EV ecosystem through industry-led research and development, advanced testing and certification infrastructure, specialised skilling programmes, incubation facilities and manufacturing support.
Emphasising the importance of aligning government interventions with actual industry requirements, Minister Priyank Kharge called upon EV companies to collectively identify their priorities and submit a comprehensive roadmap to the government.
“The government is committed to supporting the growth of the EV sector in Karnataka. However, our interventions must be guided by what the industry actually needs. Whether it is common testing facilities, research infrastructure, incubation or skilled manpower, we need a clear understanding of the requirements across different segments of the EV ecosystem. I would like the industry to come together, identify these priorities and present a consolidated roadmap. We can then work together to determine what needs to be taken forward,” the Minister said.
Skilling and talent development emerged as a key priority during the interaction. Industry representatives highlighted the growing demand for specialised talent across battery technology, embedded systems, firmware, power electronics, vehicle diagnostics, manufacturing and after-sales services. The Minister proposed an industry-backed skilling model in which companies would help define the curriculum, certify candidates and provide employment opportunities.
The Minister also encouraged companies to explore Karnataka’s existing policy incentives for manufacturing and engineering R&D, particularly opportunities to strengthen local manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports.
